What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a conservative approach to health care which deals specifically with how the nervous system works. Chiropractic health care stresses an overall body wellness, and not merely the signs and symptoms of one part of your body. Chiropractors locate and adjust spinal misalignments that cause nerve interference within the spinal cord and other joints in the body. Since adjustments help restore the function of the nervous system, they can have a profound effect on your overall health and well being.
Education & Chiropractic Physicians:
Chiropractors receive a minimum of 7-8 years of higher education. The clinical coursework includes anatomy, biochemistry, microbiology, pathology, physiology, nutrition, radiology, diagnosis, neurology, obstetrics, orthopedics, and manipulative techniques. Chiropractic education is very similar to medical education except that chiropractors focus on a more conservative approach to health care.
A chiropractic adjustment is the art of applying a very precise force in a specific direction to a joint that has lost its normal juxtaposition, which may be irritating the nervous system. After the adjustment has been performed, normal joint motion will be restored and any nerve interference that might have been present will be gone. The result is improved function of the nervous system which ultimately will lead to improved health.
